What is a Health Coach?
A Health Coach is a guide and mentor who empowers you and provides ongoing support and guidance as you set goals and make sustainable changes that improve your health and happiness.
I practice a holistic approach to health and wellness, which means that I look at how all areas of your life are connected. Does stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to overeat? Does lack of sleep or low energy prevent you from exercising? I believe in looking at all parts of your health as a whole and hope to help you connect the dots.
My approach is not to dwell on calories, but rather to focus on the quality of the food you put in your body, and I want to make healthy eating easy, accessible and ridiculously delicious! I work with my clients to empower them to build a happy, healthy life in a way that is fun, rewarding and sustainable.
Together we can work to reach your health goals in areas such as achieving optimal weight, reducing food cravings, increasing sleep, and maximizing energy. My hope is to help my clients develop a deeper understanding of the food and lifestyle choices that work best for them and implement lasting changes that will improve their energy, balance and health.
A Holistic Approach
It’s easy to overlook all of the things that contribute to our sense of nourishment and fulfillment. It’s not just the food we eat that affects our health, but all of the other factors present in our daily lives. Healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical activity, and a spiritual awareness are essential forms of nourishment. I will support you in achieving all of your goals, from eating the right foods for your body to living an inspired, fulfilling life.
Many nutrition experts give their clients a list of foods to avoid and foods to eat, which explains why so many people are turned off by nutrition. My approach is different – by eating and drinking foods that are good for you, you will naturally have less room and desire for unhealthy foods. Simply put, you will “crowd out” the unhealthy food in your diet. This takes a little practice to make happen, but I will support you all the way.
With so many new diets and food trends coming out on a regular basis, it’s easy to get confused with what to eat. I simply believe in a whole food way of living. No calorie counting, no diets. Just real food. No packaged stuff, no clever marketing, only real ingredients. I have been cooking that way for a while now and love sharing my passion for real food and showing people how fun and easy it can be to eat well.
Each Individual is Unique
The concept of bio-individuality is the idea that each of us has unique food and lifestyle needs. One person’s food is another person’s poison, and that’s why fad diets tend to fail in the long run. Working on the principle of bio-individuality, I’ll support you to make positive changes that are based on your unique needs, lifestyle, preferences, and perhaps even ancestral background.
Understanding Your Cravings
Cravings play a critical role in understanding what your body needs and shouldn’t be ignored. When you learn how to deconstruct your cravings and understand what they’re really telling you, you will be able to reclaim a sense of balance and harmony.
I know from experience that nutrition can be a very overwhelming topic and I have had my fair share of challenges in that area. My goal is to help you untangle all the confusion and build a clear road map on how to get you where you want to be. Whether you are simply trying to improve your energy level, wanting tips on how to clean up your diet, or have been trying to get back to your healthy weight, we can work together to achieve that!
As your personal health coach, I will listen carefully and we’ll navigate the world of contradictory nutrition and health advice together to explore what truly works for you. I will give you the support that you need and hold you accountable, but most importantly I will teach you how to help yourself. I strongly believe that most of us already have the knowledge to live healthy lives and are perfectly capable of getting ourselves well, we just seem to get lost in the massive outburst of information available. What I am offering here is not to send you home with a list of foods you can or cannot eat, neither am I going to give you an exercise program. What I want to do is empower you to become your own guide and give you the tools to bring in sustainable changes to your life.
This is your chance to work one-on-one with me to talk about your health and to set some goals together so that you can have the healthy life that you deserve.
As a client of my health coaching program you will:
- Set your personal goals and work towards sustainable change
- Decipher your body’s unique needs and understand your cravings
- Discover new foods and learn new ways to incorporate them into your cooking
- Switch your perspective on healthy eating and enjoy the journey
- Increase your energy levels and get rid of ups and downs
- Take ownership of your health and happiness
Your program includes:
- Two 1 hour sessions per month either online or in person
- Emails between sessions to support you and your new goals
- Simple healthy recipes to support your new lifestyle
- Handouts specific to your needs and goals (books, articles, videos, etc.)
- My personal commitment to your health and accomplishment of your goals
During this session, we will discuss your health and lifestyle to determine how I can best support you in achieving your goals.
